New Patient Exam

As part of your New Patient Exam, you can expect the following:

1. Review of your health history

When you arrive in our office, you will be greeted by our friendly team and will be taken to a comfortable treatment room where we will review your health history with you and perform thorough diagnostics to determine the current state of your dental health.

2. Digital X-rays

In order to get a detailed view of each tooth, we will take a full set of digital x- rays. Digital x-rays emit about 80% less radiation than traditional X-rays and are available for immediate viewing.

3. 3D CT scan

Our state-of-the-art 3D CT scanner provides a detailed view of your teeth and jaw. In every new patient visit, we will use our state-of-the-art cone beam CT scanner to obtain a three-dimensional view of your entire mouth, teeth, jaws and head. 3D scans provide detailed information that is very valuable in certain situations, such as for the diagnosis of pain or discomfort or for the planning for dental implant treatment.

4. Oral exam

One of our doctors will then perform a thorough examination of your mouth, gums and teeth, including charting any existing dental work and checking for tooth stability. We will also probe your gum pockets to rule out any issues with your gums.

5. Oral cancer screening

Our doctors perform an oral screening as a routine part of all new patient exams. They also do a visual and manual examination for any warning signs. Although oral cancer is not very common, oral cancer screening is an important preventative measure and can help detect potential problems before they become serious.

6. Consultation and treatment options

One of our doctors will go over the results of your exam with you. We will take the time to discuss your treatment options and answer all of your questions, and we will help you decide on a treatment plan that fits with your budget.
